The Royal Hawaiian, the grande dame of Waikiki, completed its upgrades and reopened its doors in February 2009.

The 592 guest rooms and suites have been redone with indigenous materials, cultural artifacts and lush imported fabrics. The hotel has been added to Starwood's Luxury collection as it reopened.

The hotel has a new oceanfront restaurant Azure and the restored historic Mai Tai bar, both offering a romantic setting with a view.

The Royal Hawaiian is famed for its oceanfront luau which has been featured on many TV shows. Rooms start at $450/night.
